Watershed Cafe

Watershed Cafe

The Watershed Cafe in downtown Leavenworth is really less of a cafe and worth more of your time.

This corner restaurant is accessed from the side of the building, which is a little quirky, but it keeps the restaurant at a good temperature as the door which would be accessing the main dining room isn’t opening to let in cold air in the snowy Leavenworth winters and hot air during the dry, sunny summers.

We chose this dining experience without the children. I had been before during a moms-only weekend and know I would want to return with only adults THOUGH the restaurant is able to host families as well as adult-only groups. BUT my kids won’t appreciate the food as much as it should be.
Everything is made in house and the flavor of the food is highlighted in every dish. Substitutions are not only possible they are available on everything. When my girlfriends and I went we had a mom eating no nightshades, a gluten-free mom, and a mom who doesn’t eat cheese – no problem. This recent experience my husband preferred the savory bread pudding being served with the chicken more than the mashed potatoes served with the meatloaf he was ordering – no problem!

Clam Chowder
Meatloaf with the savory bread pudding (think stuffing) substituted for the mashed potatoes.

Each experience at the Watershed Cafe will being you something new, literally! Watershed has an evolving menu based on what is in season and fresh; there is a sample menu on their site.

If you’re looking for off the beaten path, which is what we desired this evening in the tourist infested Leavenworth, this is a hidden gem off of 8thand Commercial. You’d be wise to give it a try. The flavors won’t disappoint!
